Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Assistant Superintendent to play a key leadership role in the day-to-day maintenance and long-term development of the golf course. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a collaborative environment, is detail-oriented, and committed to excellence in turf management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Superintendent and DOA in all aspects of course maintenance and agronomic planning
- Supervise, train, and lead a talented crew with professionalism and efficiency
- Maintain and monitor irrigation systems and ensure proper water management
- Scout and diagnose turf issues including pests, disease, and stress
- Oversee chemical and fertilizer applications, including calibration and record-keeping
- Contribute to budgeting, planning, and capital improvement projects
- Ensure safety standards and regulatory compliance across the department
- Foster a team-first culture and serve as a mentor for crew development
Qualifications:
- Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance
- South Carolina Pesticide License (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Proven leadership and communication skills
- Ability to operate and train staff on a wide variety of turf equipment
- Passion for the game of golf and course presentation
