Palmetto Golf Club was founded in 1892 and is one of the oldest golf clubs in the country. In 1933, Alister Mackenzie developed plans to lengthen the course and convert the greens from sand to grass. Gil Hanse did a course restoration in 2007, and the course was re-grassed in 2023 with Tahoma 31 fairways and Tif eagle greens. 

Job Responsibilities: 

• Assist Golf Course Superintendent with all aspects of golf course maintenance 
• Supervise and manage maintenance team 
• Participate and oversee fertilizer and spraying operations 
• Diagnose pest and disease pressure 
• Promote safe and efficient work environment 
• Maintain and schedule irrigation 
• Assist with project planning and execution 

Qualifications: 

• Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred 
• SC pesticide license or ability to obtain within 90 days 
• Experience on warm season turf and overseeding experience preferred
