Position Summary

Winding Creek Golf Club, Thomasville NC is seeking a skilled and dependable Golf Turf Mechanic to maintain and repair small engines and specialized turf equipment used in golf course grounds maintenance. This position plays a critical role in ensuring all equipment is safe, functional, and ready to support daily course operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on gas-powered hand tools, riding mowers, tractors, and other turf maintenance equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and determine whether parts should be repaired or replaced
  • Repair engines, hydraulic systems, ignition systems, wiring, and other mechanical or electrical components
  • Sharpen blades; change oil and filters; grease equipment; and repair tires
  • Weld broken parts and install equipment lighting as needed
  • Order parts and maintain accurate service records
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance shop
  • Follow all workplace safety practices and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair turf and small-engine equipment
  • Working knowledge of tools, materials, and methods used in equipment maintenance and repair
  • Ability to read and follow service manuals and technical instructions
  • Ability to write parts orders and basic maintenance documentation
  • Ability to work independently and cooperate effectively with others
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience repairing small engines, power tools, and/or turf maintenance equipment
  • Vocational or technical training in equipment maintenance or a related field is preferred

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Work is moderately strenuous and requires frequent physical effort
  • Ability to inspect work for quality and accuracy
  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Regular exposure to mechanical hazards, fumes, odors, dust, and varying weather conditions

Special Requirements

  • Must possess a valid North Carolina Class C Driver License
