Oyster Reef Golf Club, a premier private club located on Hilton Head Island, is seeking a skilled and dependable Equipment Technician / Mechanic to join our agronomy team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the performance, consistency, and presentation of the golf course through the care and upkeep of all maintenance equipment.

Position Overview

The Equipment Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and performance of all golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring that equipment is operating at the highest level each day. This role works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and agronomy team to support daily operations and long-term course conditioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all golf course equipment
• Conduct daily inspections to ensure equipment is operating properly and cutting quality meets standards
• Grind and maintain reels and bedknives to ensure optimal quality of cut
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
• Maintain accurate service and repair records
• Establish and uphold safe equipment operation and shop practices
• Manage parts inventory and order necessary supplies
• Perform fabrication, welding, and general equipment overhauls as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
• Communicate equipment needs and issues proactively with the Superintendent

Experience Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience as a mechanic (golf course experience preferred)
• Strong knowledge of small engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Experience with reel mower grinding and adjustments preferred
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of equipment
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and sense of ownership
• Valid driver’s license

Educational Requirements

• Vocational or technical training in mechanics or small engine repair preferred

Special Requirements-Work Environment

• This position works in a combination of shop and outdoor environments and requires the ability to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and work around mechanical equipment and varying weather conditions.
