Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Jefferson Landing Golf Club is seeking a motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our golf course maintenance team in Jefferson, North Carolina. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain the golf course and surrounding grounds at a high standard. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining exceptional playing conditions, enjoys working outdoors, and is willing to lead by example as part of a professional turf maintenance team. 


Responsibilities 

  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with daily planning and execution of golf course maintenance operations. 
  • Help oversee and direct the maintenance crew and daily assignments. 
  • Assist with fertilizer, pesticide, and other turfgrass applications in accordance with all applicable regulations and label requirements.
  • Monitor turf health and identify disease, insect, weed, drainage, and irrigation issues. 
  • Assist with the installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system. 
  • Assist with seasonal turfgrass programs and course improvement projects. 
  • Help maintain equipment and keep the maintenance facility and work areas clean and organized. 
  • Monitor course conditions and communicate maintenance needs to the Superintendent. 
  • Help prepare the golf course for daily play, tournaments, and special events. 
  • Follow and promote proper safety procedures and ensure equipment is operated safely. 
  • Work cooperatively with the golf shop, clubhouse, management, and other departments. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.


Qualifications 

  • 2+ years as an assistant superintendent. 
  • Experience on Bentgrass/cool-season grass is strongly preferred. 
  • Irrigation experience is a plus. 
  • NC Pesticide applicator licence or willingness to obtain licence within 90 days of hiring date. 
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. 
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods. 
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail. 
  • Good communication and leadership skills. 
  • Valid driver's license.
