Position Summary

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Superintendent and assists in overseeing the daily maintenance of tees, greens, fairways, and other turf areas. Responsibilities include supervising irrigation system maintenance and repairs, applying chemicals and fertilizers, and supporting overall course operations. The Assistant Superintendent may serve in the Superintendent’s role in their absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and supervising maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways; schedule work and oversee staff, equipment, and resources.
  • Perform daily golf course setup, including moisture monitoring, cup cutting, and staff supervision.
  • Apply chemicals and fertilizers to greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and landscaped areas in a safe and effective manner.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems, including pipes and irrigation heads.
  • Demonstrate accuracy, honesty, integrity, and a commitment to Campbell University’s Christian mission.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Two-year or four-year degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in golf course maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education or non-profit environment is preferred.
