Long Cove Club is a nationally respected 1981 Pete Dye designed golf course located on Hilton Head Island, SC. 

Long Cove staff manages Tifeagle greens, Celebration bermudagrass fairways and celebration bermuda/Zeon zoysia tee surfaces. 

The available position offers a career-minded individual an excellent opportunity to further develop agronomic, personnel management, and budgetary skills to prepare them for the next step of their career. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent and Director of Agronomy to lead our group of team members in preparing the golf course for a world class experience for our members and their guests. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Prioritize assignments and follow up to ensure goals meet our standards. 
• Instruct equipment operators on the proper operation and care of all golf course equipment. 
• Supervise fertilizer/pesticide applications and/or operate and calibrate fertilizer/pesticide application equipment. 
• Supervise the operation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems. 
• Assists in personnel management. To include team building, staff development, follow-up, annual evaluations, safety training, and discipline. 
• Keep daily work and pesticide/fertilizer records. 
• Assist the Director of Agronomy and Superintendent in preparing short-term and long-term agronomic strategies for maintenance of the golf course. 

Requirements: 

• Qualified applicant must be a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills along with a keen eye for detail. 
• 2 or 4 year degree in turf management or agronomy with 1 – 2 years of on the job experience is preferred. 
• Ability to obtain a SC pesticide license within 6 months. 
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
