Located in Cary, NC MacGregor Downs Country Club was designed by Willard Byrd. Opening in 1967, this Golf Course has much to speak for itself with its unique design and signature holes. Owned and Operated by Concert Golf Partners who also own 36 other clubs within the country. Concert Golf Partners is well known for implementing capital projects and improvements into each one of their clubs. “Champion” Ultra-Dwarf Greens renovation was completed in 2015, as well as the addition of a new pump house with fertigation. In 2021 a bunker renovation was completed, allowing excellent water retention and flow. The qualified Assistant Superintendent will report directly to the Superintendent and is responsible for the guidance and leadership of all daily golf course operations as well as club ground operations. Strong leadership and crew management skills are required in order to maintain the property with high expectations and attention to detail. The Candidate must be highly motivated, hardworking, and passionate in progressing their career into a Golf Course Superintendent. The ideal candidate must be able to work on a weekend and holiday rotation.
Responsibilities:
• Working closely with Golf Course Superintendent.
• Management of crew and daily operations.
• Involved with assisting daily set-up and course preparations.
• Must be able to calibrate and apply Chemical and Fertilizer applications when needed.
• Conduct and implementing training and safety standards in order to operate effectively and efficiently.
• Proper record keeping of Chemical and Fertilizer applications.
• Observing Golf Course Conditions and directly communicating with superintendent, as well as Mechanic.
• Finding and implementing detailed work to meet golf course requirements.
Requirements:
• Must have a 2- or 4-year degree in Agronomy or Turfgrass Management.
• Must have Prior Golf Couse experience.
• Must have, or be able to obtain, a NC Pesticide Applicators License within 90 days.
• Must have Strong decision-making skills and be able to lead the crew into establishing Course and Club Ground operations at a high level of standard.
• Must be able to coordinate and solve problems in a professional manner.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Must be able to operate all Golf Course Maintenance equipment.
• Fix and improve irrigation problems when necessary.
