The Assistant Superintendent will assist with all aspects of golf course maintenance under the guidance of the Golf Course Superintendent. A wide range of responsibilities including daily planning, Irrigation Troubleshooting, pesticide/fertilizer application, Hand watering, record keeping, landscaping.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Coordinate daily scheduling of crew duties
• Perform supervisory duties to support the golf maintenance team
• Supervise and assist in pesticide and fertilizer applications
• Operate all equipment associated with golf maintenance
• Identify problems and recommend solutions to the Superintendent.
• Maintain and inspect golf course grounds, clubhouse grounds, landscaping, and maintenance equipment          as assigned
• Conduct and maintain inventory
• Assist in hiring golf course employees
• Train employees in all aspects of golf course operations
• Attend approved conferences, workshops, and meetings to stay current with industry developments
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications: 

• 2- or 4-year degree in Turf Management or Agronomy
• Experience in managing cool season turf in the transition zone is a plus
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to supervise and train employees
• Sound water management skills/knowledge
• Ability to identify pest threats on the golf course
• Good organizational and record-keeping skills
• Ability to manage the facility in the Superintendent's absence
• High attention to detail and a commitment to excellence
• Ability to work weekends and holidays with little or no notice
• Pesticide License preferred
